GNT Happenings | DC Trips and Early Booking

DC Trips

Spring is quickly approaching, and for many schools, that means class field trips are approaching as well. Schools all over the nation are preparing to take their students on educational tours to various cities. The most popular of these destinations, though, has to be Washington DC. Our nation's capital, filled with American history, is the one destination that every student must experience.

This time every year, Good News Travels prepares to send school groups out to this iconic destination. It is one of our favorite tour locations, and we're so excited to see what exciting experiences unfold on this year's school trips!

Just for Fun

Ford's Theater. The Washington Monument. The Smithsonian. There is so much to see, do, and take in in Washington DC! Here's a few fun facts about the DC attractions we know and love:

- Originally, the phone number for the White House was simply the number 1. This was in 1878. It wasn't until 1929 that a phone was installed in the Oval Office at the president's desk.

- There is actually a bathtub in the basement of the United States Capitol Building! Four bathtubs were installed in 1859 since most senators lived on Capitol Hill and did not have running water in their boarding houses.

- When the Washington Monument was constructed, it was the tallest structure in the world until the Eiffel Tower claimed the title five years later.
