Christmas in July | Places to Have Some Fun in the Sun

Christmas in July, a truly southern tradition, began in Brevard, North Carolina in 1933 at a girls’ camp called Keystone Camp. Campers used laundry bags as makeshift stockings and made fake snow out of cotton. There were carolers and Christmas trees, and Santa would even make an appearance now and then.

Many Christmas in July festivities look like this still today, with gifts and goodies. For others, July 25th is simply a fun excuse to celebrate even in the middle of the sweltering summer heat! However you celebrate this “holiday” should be a fun time.

We’ve put together our top seven Christmas in July day trips in Georgia and the Carolinas to help you have some fun in the sun and get in the festive spirit!
